Marvel Rivals players will start getting banned on consoles for using the keyboard and mouse
NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The use of adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from a keyboard and mouse, is considered a violation of the game's terms of service. This is due to the unfair advantage provided by increased control precision and maintained aim assist, particularly in competitive modes with auto-targeting enabled.
NetEase has implemented detection systems to identify adapter use with high accuracy, resulting in account suspensions for offenders. The company stated that these devices create an uneven playing field, especially in competitive gameplay.
Separately, the game has shown a correlation between higher FPS and increased ping. While this may be less noticeable with already high ping, a jump from, for example, 90ms to 150ms can severely impact gameplay. This appears linked to frame rate. Until a patch addresses this issue, players are advised to experiment with finding an optimal FPS/ping balance, with some suggesting maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary solution. This contrasts with the higher FPS preferences common in games like Counter-Strike 2.
