Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game

Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the nine-year-old Rainbow Six Siege. This announcement, made on February 17th, 2025, precedes the game's 10th anniversary.

March 2025 Showcase:

A dedicated showcase is planned for March 13th, 2025, at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia. This event will detail the extensive gameplay enhancements, refined mechanics, and overall upgrades included in Siege X. Limited in-person tickets ($10 USD) are available, including an exclusive shirt and in-game cosmetic pack, but require US/Canada residency, age 18+, and a clean Rainbow Six Siege account. A VIP giveaway for two lucky fans (US/Canada residents only) includes a hotel stay, flights, and event access.

Key Improvements: Siege X promises "new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades." Specific details will be revealed during the March showcase.

10th Anniversary & Season 1: Operation Prep Phase:

Rainbow Six Siege originally launched December 1st, 2015, and has received continuous updates since. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Season 1 ("Operation Prep Phase") launches March 4th, 2025, introducing:

• New Operator: Aurora: Able to deploy bulletproof doors.
• New Elite Skin: For operator Aruni.
• New Reputation System: Rewards and punishes player behavior.

While Season 10 launches before the Siege X showcase, the major Siege X upgrades are expected to be implemented on live servers at a later date.
