The Lenovo Legion Go 2 was first showcased at CES 2025 alongside the AMD Z2 Extreme processor that will drive it. Now, Lenovo is set to release the device in October 2025 – though an exact launch date has yet to be confirmed.

The new handheld gaming PC will come in two configurations: one equipped with the base AMD Z2 APU, and another featuring the more powerful Z2 Extreme – the same chipset found in the Asus ROG Ally X. According to Lenovo, the Z2 Extreme model supports up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The entry-level $1,099 model, however, pairs the base Z2 APU with 16GB of RAM, matching what was offered in the original Legion Go.

One of the most notable upgrades this generation is the display. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 features a 1200p OLED screen. While that’s a step down in resolution from the original model’s 1600p panel, the shift to OLED should deliver richer visuals. Furthermore, one common critique in our review of the first Legion Go was that its hardware struggled to fully utilize the high-resolution display, so the move to 1200p will likely help improve overall system smoothness.

That said, the pricing may come as a surprise. The Legion Go 2 starts at $1,099 for the standard Z2 model, with the Z2 Extreme version beginning at $1,349. A fully maxed-out configuration will run you $1,479. For comparison, the first-gen Legion Go launched at $699 back in October 2023. While the newer chipset promises a meaningful boost in gaming performance, whether the upgrade justifies the higher cost is something we’ll need to evaluate once we test the device in our lab.
