Jon Bernthal's Punisher Will Return After Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 in a Guardians of the Galaxy-Style Marvel Special
Jon Bernthal's Punisher is slated for a comeback after Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 concludes, in a Marvel special reminiscent of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Bernthal will co-write this Marvel special with We Own This City director, Reinaldo Marcus Green.
Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, described the project as "a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story," adding, "It's so exciting."

News of this Punisher one-shot follows Marvel Television's plans to revive the Defenders on Disney+. This street-level superhero team, featuring Daredevil (Matt Murdock), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), last appeared on Netflix before their series transitioned to Disney+ and became integrated into the MCU.
Winderbaum previously told Entertainment Weekly, "It’s certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox… We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But…it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.”
Daredevil: Born Again, premiering March 4th, continues the Daredevil storyline initiated on Netflix, bringing back familiar faces such as the Punisher and Wilson Fisk (Kingpin), played by Vincent D'Onofrio. This time, they face a formidable foe: the artistically-driven serial killer, Muse.
