The much-anticipated release of Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update on Steam has been overshadowed by a series of controversies. Infold Games’ stylish dress-up adventure, after months of Epic Game Store exclusivity, finally made its debut on Valve’s digital platform. However, the launch has been anything but smooth, with technical issues, unexpected design changes, and demanding new outfit requirements causing a stir among the community.

PC players eager to dive into the Steam version of Infinity Nikki were met with a barrage of technical problems, including crashes and overall instability that prevented many from even launching the game. While technical issues at launch are not uncommon, the discontent among players quickly extended beyond performance concerns.

The introduction of two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, each consisting of 11 pieces, has sparked significant backlash. These outfits require up to 220 pulls to complete, a substantial increase from the usual set sizes, and were introduced without prior notice. This change has led to fears that future outfits might demand even more from players, both in terms of time and money.

Adding to the confusion, Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks, a decision that left many players puzzled. Amidst these technical and design challenges, and as Infold implements more aggressive monetization strategies, the Chinese player base took to the social media platform RedNote to voice their concerns. This quickly escalated into a global movement, with players worldwide calling for a boycott of Infinity Nikki on Steam, urging others to leave negative reviews and uninstall the game across all platforms.

Reddit user kiaxxl emphasized the importance of withholding pulls for a few days to send a message to the game's developers. "What I am reminding people of is a decent amount of Chinese IN stylists pledging to not spend/pull on the banners to send a message to the digital income trackers for the game," they wrote in a call-to-action post. "For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days. Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players."

The outcry has had a tangible impact, with Infinity Nikki currently holding a "Mixed" rating on Steam as players leave negative reviews, cautioning potential new players to steer clear until their demands are met and issues are resolved.

In response to the widespread dissatisfaction, Infold issued an apology letter across its official channels. The company acknowledged the technical hiccups and promised to enhance communication about future changes. "Thank you again for your support," the message read. "We know we still have shortcomings, but it’s because of your companionship that Nikki can keep pushing the boundaries of imagination. Please give us another chance to let Nikki’s starlight continue shining for all of us, ensuring our sincerity never fades."

Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience

Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho

In the apology, Infold announced plans to revert Mira Crown to end on May 16 and start the next season on the same day, along with offering compensation in the form of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While these steps are seen as positive, they fall short of the comprehensive changes many in the community were hoping for.

Despite some players viewing Infold’s concessions as a victory, concerns linger about the decision to maintain the 11-piece outfit requirement for new five-star outfits. The promise of better communication is welcomed, yet the community remains wary of the continued high demands of new outfits.

I wish you would finally chance the drop rate.. it cant be that i need 200 pulls to get a 5star and then you drop like 5 banners within weeks?! Make the rate lower or give us more diamonds to be able to get crystals.. this is not fun!

While the community celebrates the swift response to their protests, the call to maintain pressure remains strong. "Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will **be** 11 pieces," Reddit user EdensAsmr said. "Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will **not** cut it."
