"Guide to Exploring Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria"

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map, but remained inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Here's how to access the Deep Woods and find Caldarus within the enchanting world of *Fields of Mistria*.

How to Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Deep Woods involves breaking the Fire Seal and using the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the obstructing vines. To break the Fire Seal, head to Floor 60 in the mines and place four items on the Priestess’ altar: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. You can find the first three items between floors 50 and 59, but acquiring the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor obtain the Sealing Scroll, leave the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once you've provided these items, talk to Balor again. He'll inform you that the scroll will be ready the next day, allowing you to complete the offering.

Typically, breaking magic seals grants you a few parting words from the mysterious mines Priestess, unlocking a new biome. However, this time, the Priestess warns you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. With your health depleted, Caldarus appears in his human form to rescue you, then retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover.

Caldarus leaves you with the Dragon’s Breath spell, which you can use to burn away the vines blocking the Deep Woods entrance. This spell also unlocks other hidden areas on the map. To use it, equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the entrance, permanently unlocking the Deep Woods and other areas.

How to Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, locate Caldarus inside his temple in the Deep Woods, north of the Eastern Road on your map. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access the area. Caldarus’ exact location is marked on your map like other NPCs, in the northeast corner of the area.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to chop down the stump blocking your path. Then, proceed north to the temple where Caldarus awaits.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the area and visit Caldarus for just 10 Essence, saving time compared to traveling on foot or horseback. You can also interact with Caldarus via his statue in spirit.
