GTA 6: S-Tier Potential? Ranking All Rockstar Games

Author : Max May 19,2025

The excitement is palpable with the release of the new GTA 6 trailer. If you missed it, don't worry—we've dissected all the secrets and details for you. However, we'll need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. While we bide our time, let's take a fun trip down memory lane and rank all the Rockstar games we've loved over the years.

Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has developed and released over 30 games, including iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which game stands out as the best? Note that you won't find games like LA Noire or Max Payne 2 on this list, as we're focusing solely on Rockstar-developed titles, not those they've published. I've crafted a personal tier list based on my enjoyment of each game over the years, using an IGN Tier List. Here's how it looks:

Rockstar Games Tier List

Red Dead Redemption 2 is hands down my favorite game ever, making it an easy S-tier choice for me. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5—both groundbreaking titles in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a soft spot for Max Payne 3 with its thrilling bullet time mechanics, and GTA San Andreas, which I played far too young. At the bottom of the list in D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!—titles that most would agree are best left unplayed.

Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you think Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the rest of the IGN community.
