Google Play to Auto-Launch Apps
Ever downloaded an app only to completely forget about it? I never have—but Google Play Store might have figured out a solution either way. Reports suggest an upcoming feature will let users automatically launch apps right after installation.
What's the Story?
According to Android Authority, the Google Play Store may soon introduce a handy feature to save users those extra taps. This potential update would open apps immediately after download—no more hunting for the icon or wondering if the install succeeded. Once the app is ready, it’ll jump straight to your screen.
This feature isn't confirmed yet. The discovery comes from an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19, meaning Google hasn’t officially announced it. If released, it’s expected to be called App Auto Open, and importantly, it would be optional—letting users toggle auto-launch on or off per preference.
How does it work? When an install finishes, a brief notification banner will display for roughly five seconds at the top of your screen. Depending on device settings, it might even alert you with sound or vibration, ensuring you don’t miss it—even mid-scroll through Instagram Reels or a heated mobile game session.
Keep in mind this remains unofficial, with no confirmed rollout timeline. But once Google shares official details, you’ll hear it here first.
