Sony, in collaboration with game developer Santa Monica Studio, has unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, a thrilling update for God of War Ragnarök that's set to arrive next week. This update brings a host of in-game equipment inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, promising to elevate the gaming experience for all players.

In a PlayStation.Blog post, Sony laid out all the exciting elements of its God of War 20th anniversary celebration. The highlight is undoubtedly the Dark Odyssey collection, a free update scheduled for March 20, available to all God of War Ragnarök players on both PlayStation 5 and PC. This update introduces a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic that will make Kratos and his companions stand out as they battle through the realms of Norse mythology.

Not only does Kratos receive a stunning Dark Odyssey appearance and armor set reminiscent of the skin originally awarded for beating God of War 2 on God Mode, but Atreus and Freya also get their own unique cosmetic sets. Additionally, players can customize a variety of shields and weapons with matching Dark Odyssey appearances and attachments. The update allows players to claim these items from any Lost Items chest in the base game or instantly in the roguelike Valhalla mode. Moreover, it introduces the long-awaited feature to customize Kratos' weapons' appearance without affecting their abilities.

Fans can look forward to a range of other activities and offers, including downloadable social media assets (available here), an art showcase in partnership with Los Angeles' Gallery Nucleus, new merchandise, sales, and multiple vinyl releases spanning the series' history.

Santa Monica Studio expressed their gratitude to the fans, stating, "On behalf of everyone at Santa Monica Studio, we are immeasurably grateful to have had the chance to build the legacy of this series with and for you, the fans of God of War."
