Well, perhaps that's not the norm *everywhere*, but it certainly is the case in Expelled! from inkle, the creators behind the acclaimed game Overboard.

Expelled! casts you as Verity Amersham, a seemingly virtuous schoolgirl at Miss Mulligatawney's School for Promising Girls (a rather catchy name, don't you think?) set in 1922. You've always been well-behaved, but when a prefect is mysteriously pushed out a window, you find yourself accused of attempted murder!

Now, your only option is to clear your name by any means necessary. With just one school day to do so, and characters moving and acting independently, you're in a race against time. Whether you choose to clear your name by uncovering the true culprit, framing someone else, or simply resorting to your hockey stick, the choice is yours!

It's incredibly easy to recommend Expelled!, and that's before even mentioning Catherine Dellosa's glowing review. Inkle, the developers behind my all-time favorite mobile game, 80 Days, have once again struck gold with the murder-themed visual novel Overboard!. While Expelled! features a much less sinister protagonist, you have the freedom to play it as straightforwardly as possible, pin the crime on someone else, or unleash your inner teenage vigilante. And, there's a hint that Verity might not be as innocent as she appears at first glance.
