Fortnite Reverses Skin Controversy

The iconic Master Chief, the face of the Halo franchise (even if hidden behind a helmet), is a highly sought-after skin in Fortnite. His return to the item shop after a two-year hiatus was met with excitement, but a small detail soured the celebration.

Initially, a special Matte Black style was offered exclusively to players using Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. The abrupt announcement of its removal, therefore, caused significant backlash.

Some fans even believed this action violated legal regulations and began planning a class-action lawsuit. However, Epic Games swiftly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style will now be available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X.

This appears to be the most sensible outcome. Given the holiday season and festive spirit of Christmas, such a controversial move would have been poorly received.
