Elden Ring Update Enhances Accessibility
Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC receives a balancing update (1.12.2) to ease difficulty. While lauded by critics, the DLC's challenging nature sparked player frustration, even leading to review bombing on Steam.
This update directly addresses concerns about difficulty, particularly in the early and late stages of the DLC. It significantly boosts attack power and damage reduction from Shadow Realm Blessings (like Scadutree Fragments) in the first half of their enhancement levels, with a more gradual increase in the second half. The final enhancement level also receives a minor buff.
Interestingly, Bandai Namco had to remind players to utilize Scadutree Fragments, a new collectible enhancing damage and defense, as many weren't taking full advantage of them. With this update, these fragments will provide an even more substantial benefit.
The patch also fixes a PC-specific bug where ray tracing automatically activates when loading older save files, a common cause of framerate issues. Players experiencing this are advised to manually disable ray tracing. Future updates are promised, promising further bug fixes and additional balance adjustments.
Elden Ring Update 1.12.2 Patch Notes Summary:
- Shadow Realm Blessing Adjustments: Attack and damage negation scaling revised for increased effectiveness, especially in early and final enhancement levels.
- Ray Tracing Bug Fix (PC): Resolved automatic ray tracing activation when loading older save data. Players should manually check and disable if needed.
- Future Updates Planned: Additional balance tweaks and bug fixes are forthcoming.
