Elden Ring Nightreign Adds Duo Mode July 30
Nightreign adventurers who prefer to team up exclusively with their trusted partner are in luck. FromSoftware has officially announced Elden Ring Nightreign's Patch 1.02 will introduce Duo Expeditions, a dedicated two-player mode launching July 30.
This update finally lets Nightfarers embark on expeditions as pairs to challenge Nightlords together – previously limited to either solo runs or three-player groups.
The community has consistently demanded duos play, with many preferring cooperative experiences with just one companion. Game director Junya Ishizaki acknowledged this oversight during development, calling it an unintended gap in the initial release.
Following Nightreign's debut, FromSoftware prioritized implementing Duo Expeditions. Now arriving weeks later, this feature offers perfect synergy for partners without requiring additional teammates.
Patch 1.02 also introduces quality-of-life improvements including enhanced Relic inventory filtering – particularly useful given most players' growing collections.
Timed with the update, July 31 marks the next Everdark cycle rotation featuring boosted Sovereign fights against Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog. These encounters promise fresh challenges whether tackling them solo, duo, or in three-player teams.
The relatively swift implementation within two months of launch demonstrates FromSoftware's evolving live-service approach. With potential DLC still ahead, the Lands Between continues unfolding new experiences.
