Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza Will Take Comedic Manliness to Another Level
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Serious Drama and Hilarious Mayhem
RGG Studio promises a unique mix of intense drama and comedic absurdity in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment will push the boundaries of reality while delivering a compelling "manly drama," according to the developers.
A Serious Side to Majima
While the Like a Dragon series is renowned for its humor, particularly Majima's comedic antics, director Masayoshi Yokoyama reveals a "more serious" side to Majima in this iteration, especially at the story's outset.
Producer Ryosuke Horii emphasizes the "manly drama" at the heart of the game, focusing on Majima's passionate pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges along the way. He clarifies that while the game will feature its share of outlandish moments, the core narrative centers on a driven individual. "The goofing off isn't the main point – there's a manly drama at the center of things. Of course, there are some crazy parts to take detours to, but overall, I think it's a straightforward tale about a passionate man."
Horii highlights Majima's unique qualities, distinct from series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, justifying his selection as the lead. The team aimed for a balance between the fantastical pirate setting, Majima's personality, and the overall Like a Dragon feel, acknowledging the challenge in achieving this harmony. The result promises a thrilling blend of realism and over-the-top action.
Majima's Maji Festival
To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival in six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, starring the iconic "Mad Dog of Shimano," Goro Majima, offers a unique blend of action-packed combat, thrilling naval battles, vibrant characters, and a captivating story. Prepare for an unforgettable modern-day pirate adventure!
