Dead by Daylight Will Make Highly Requested Change to The Nightmare
Dead by Daylight's The Nightmare Receives a Major Rework
Freddy Krueger, or The Nightmare, in Dead by Daylight is getting a significant overhaul in a future patch. This rework aims to address player concerns regarding his current weakness and bring him more in line with his iconic horror persona, enhancing his competitive viability.
The core change is the ability to seamlessly switch between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets, granting The Nightmare far greater tactical flexibility. Both powers have been updated with new mechanics. Dream Snares now travel at 12 m/s, navigating walls and stairs (but not ledges), and their effect varies depending on whether a Survivor is asleep or awake. Awake Survivors will have their sleep meter increased, while asleep Survivors will be hindered. Dream Pallets, when triggered, explode, inflicting damage and impacting the sleep meter based on the Survivor's state.
Further enhancing his mobility, The Nightmare can now teleport to any generator (completed, blocked, or endgame) within the Dream World. A new mechanic allows him to teleport near healing Survivors, instantly revealing them via Killer Instinct and adding to their sleep timer. This encourages Survivors to utilize alarm clocks strategically.
The rework also includes Add-on adjustments to encourage creative loadout choices, though his existing perks remain unchanged. This decision likely aims to preserve the original character design intent, even if some perks are currently less competitive.
Key Changes for The Nightmare:
- Switching Abilities: Swap freely between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets.
- Updated Dream Snares: 12 m/s speed, wall and stair traversal, unique effects based on Survivor's sleep status (hindered or sleep meter increase).
- Revised Dream Pallets: Explode on activation, causing damage and affecting sleep meter based on Survivor's sleep status.
- Enhanced Teleportation: Teleport to any generator or healing Survivor in the Dream World, revealing nearby Survivors with Killer Instinct.
- Reduced Teleport Cooldown: Decreased from 45 to 30 seconds, and no longer cancellable.
- Alarm Clock Changes: Sleeping Survivors can use any alarm clock to wake up, but each clock has a 45-second cooldown after use.
While the exact release date isn't specified, these changes are currently implemented in the Public Test Build (PTB), hinting at an imminent arrival in the live game. These significant alterations promise to make The Nightmare a far more formidable and engaging Killer.
