Concord: A Hero Shooter Launching August 23rd with a Robust Post-Launch Roadmap

Sony and Firewalk Studios' upcoming hero shooter, Concord, is set to launch on August 23rd for PS5 and PC. Following a successful open beta, the developers have unveiled a detailed post-launch content roadmap, emphasizing a commitment to regular updates and a player-centric approach.

No Battle Pass Required

Unlike many competitors, Concord will not feature a traditional battle pass. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding base experience, with meaningful rewards earned through gameplay, character leveling, and objective completion. This decision aims to provide a robust and enjoyable experience from day one.

Season 1: The Tempest - Arriving in October

Season 1, titled "The Tempest," launches in October and introduces a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional character variants, and a range of cosmetic rewards. Weekly cinematic vignettes will enrich the lore surrounding the Northstar crew. The in-game store, also debuting in Season 1, will offer purely cosmetic items, ensuring a fair and balanced gameplay experience.

Future Seasons and Beyond

Season 2 is planned for January 2025, signifying Firewalk's dedication to consistent seasonal content drops throughout Concord's first year.

Mastering Concord's Crew Builder System

Game Director Ryan Ellis shared insights into optimal gameplay strategies, emphasizing the unique "Crew Builder" system. Players assemble teams of five Freegunners, with the option to include up to three variants of the same character. This allows for flexible team compositions tailored to individual playstyles and match challenges. Combining Freegunners from different roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) unlocks Crew Bonuses, providing significant advantages in combat. Unlike traditional roles, Concord's Freegunners prioritize high DPS and direct combat effectiveness. The six roles are defined by their impact on the match, encompassing area control, strategic positioning, and flanking maneuvers.
