Baldur's Gate 3 may be eighteen months old, but players continue diving into their second, third—or even tenth—playthroughs. With developer Larian Studios stepping away from the franchise, Hasbro now holds responsibility for Baldur's Gate's future. The good news? We won't have to wait long for updates.

During an interview with IGN at this year's Game Developers Conference, Hasbro's SVP of Digital Games Dan Ayoub revealed significant interest in the franchise since Larian's departure. "We're evaluating our plans for Baldur's Gate," Ayoub explained. "And we'll have some announcements coming very soon."

While Ayoub didn't confirm whether these plans include a full Baldur's Gate 4 or another crossover (like the previous Magic: The Gathering collaboration), he expressed personal enthusiasm for continuing the series. "Eventually, I'd love to see Baldur's Gate 4," he admitted, "but that's a long-term project."

"We're taking our time with this," Ayoub emphasized. "There's no rush—we're exploring multiple concepts and approaches. Soon enough, we'll start sharing some of these ideas with fans."

The executive acknowledged the tremendous pressure to meet expectations for future Baldur's Gate content—a standard that even influences other Dungeons & Dragons projects from Hasbro, like last year's announced title.

"I welcome creative challenges," Ayoub stated. "Our teams thrive with higher expectations—it pushes them toward more ambitious ideas. That's exactly what we want: to keep raising the bar and delivering better experiences."

Our conversation with Ayoub also covered Magic: The Gathering, Hasbro's partnership with Saber Interactive, and broader gaming strategies. Look for the complete interview next week.
