Atelier Resleriana's End-of-Service Announcement: A Year Later, the Lights Go Out

Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, effective March 28th, just one year after its global launch. In-app purchases will cease on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the final shutdown.

The developers cited an inability to maintain their intended quality standards as the reason for the closure. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, they determined continued operation was unsustainable. Players can still utilize existing Lodestar Gems, but further purchases are unavailable.

The game's struggles weren't unexpected. The highly competitive gacha market presented significant challenges for Atelier Resleriana, despite its promising premise. Criticisms centered around gacha rates, underperforming alchemy mechanics (a core element of the Atelier series), and a generally unengaging gameplay loop compared to genre rivals.

While many players are requesting an offline version on social media, its feasibility remains doubtful. For those who enjoyed Atelier Resleriana's turn-based RPG elements, the remaining months offer a final opportunity to experience the game.
