Android-Bound Point-and-Click Enigmas of Lovecraftian Dread and Myst-Like Depth Coming This Year
In a world brimming with video games, finding a truly unique experience is a treasure hunt. My Father Lied, a mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure, immediately stood out due to its compelling narrative.
My Father Lied: An Indie Developer's Vision
The game's creation story is fascinating. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, wasn't initially aiming for game development. In 2020, he was a writer and filmmaker. A college friend suggested a collaborative game project, but that venture dissolved before launch.
However, Alameen couldn't abandon the story he'd conceived. He embarked on a solo journey, teaching himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine to realize his vision. Even the game's title was a collaborative effort with his wife.
Unraveling the Game's Narrative
The game plunges players into a mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths, brimming with secrets, puzzles, and surprises.
Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: What happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, is far from straightforward.
Drawing inspiration from 7000 years of Mesopotamian culture, My Father Lied blends ancient lore with contemporary storytelling. The gameplay is user-friendly, featuring simple point-and-click mechanics, stunning 2D visuals, and immersive 360-degree images.
