Zelda: Breath of Wild Speedrun Ends in Under 10 Minutes, Elicits Applause

At the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, a speedrunner known as Ikaboze achieved a remarkable feat by beating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch 2 within a mere 10 minutes. As reported by VGC, Ikaboze utilized an existing save file, unaware of Link's equipment, and challenged himself to defeat the final boss, Ganon, "completely naked and with all my equipment removed." Starting from a save that positioned him directly at the final boss fight, Ikaboze managed to defeat Ganon in just seven minutes, prompting spontaneous applause from the onlookers.

The achievement was all the more impressive because Ikaboze was using an unfamiliar controller and couldn't hear the game over the convention hall's noise. Reflecting on the event, Ikaboze said, "I was surprised by how many people had gathered. Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integrates with the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version can access these enhancements by purchasing a $10 "upgrade pack." Additionally, subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pack can obtain upgrade packs for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom at no extra cost.
