World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Launch
Summary
- World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been unexpectedly delayed.
- A new launch time has not yet been announced.
- Players can enjoy other WoW activities while waiting for Plunderstorm.
World of Warcraft has delayed the launch of its second Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen technical issues. While the goal remains to launch Plunderstorm before the end of January 14th, players will need to exercise a bit more patience.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was slated to return on January 14th, 2025, with both returning and brand-new rewards.
Unfortunately, unexpected problems arose during the rollout. An initially planned six-hour maintenance period was extended to eight hours, with servers expected to return at 3 PM PST. However, a community manager, Kaivax, announced further delays due to these unforeseen issues. While a return before the end of January 14th is still the target, no new estimated launch time is currently available.
When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14th, pending resolution of unexpected issues.
Regular WoW servers are now back online. Players awaiting Plunderstorm can pursue other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or engaging in other content within The War Within.
This second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces new features, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These new features may be contributing to the current delays. Hopefully, World of Warcraft will resolve these issues swiftly.
Despite the game mode's delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are still active. Viewers who watch four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch streamer before February 4th at 10 AM PST can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm, providing a way for players to earn this reward while waiting for the event's return.
