"Upgrade Weapons in Atomfall: A Guide"
In *Atomfall*, upgrading your weapons not only enhances their stats but also adds a sleek new skin and can unlock the prestigious ‘Make do and mend’ trophy. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to upgrade your weapons in *Atomfall*:
How to Unlock the Gunsmithing Skill in Atomfall
Head to Morris Wick at the Village Shop in Wyndham, where he keeps a copy of the Crafting Manual. However, acquiring it from him isn't as straightforward as bartering. You'll need to engage in a bit of blackmail and negotiation. Upon entering St. Katherine's Church, you'll uncover a dialogue about the recent murder of Maisie, with the Vicar desperate to keep it under wraps. Further investigation will lead you to evidence implicating Morris in the crime, which you can use to pressure him into handing over the Crafting Manual.
The crucial evidence is located in the Brewery Cellar at coordinates 30.5 E, 80.5 N in the west of Wyndham Village. Enter through the cellar door near the ruined building, and search for a note titled "Kill the One They Call Maisie". Once you have this incriminating note, return to Morris at his shop at 33.3 E, 79.9 N. Engage in dialogue that subtly pressures him without outright threats until you reach the "Bargaining" option. Choosing this will prompt Morris to give you the Crafting Manual in exchange for your silence.
Alternatively, the Crafting Manual can be found in the D Section of The Interchange, though this method is more challenging and time-consuming.
After obtaining and reading the Crafting Manual, you'll need to invest 7 Training Stimulants to acquire the Gunsmith skill, unlocking the recipes necessary for crafting upgraded weapons. These stimulants can be found in B.A.R.D. structures like Bunkers and The Interchange.
How To Craft Weapon Upgrades in Atomfall
For instance, upgrading the Falkirk Battle Rifle to Pristine requires 2 Falkirk Battle Rifles (Stock), 3 Gun Oil, and 6 Scrap. These materials are most commonly found at military installations such as Protocol Camps. If you plan on frequently upgrading weapons, consider investing in the Deep Pockets survival skill to carry more crafting supplies.
Upon upgrading your first weapon to Pristine, you'll earn the 'Make do and mend' Achievement or Trophy, a testament to your crafting prowess.
