My personal favorite? Squirtle (148/142) captures that mischievous charm I love to see in a classic Gen I Pokémon card.

I'm particularly drawn to the Special Illustration Rare Pecharunt ex (093/064). It's the best promo Legendary we've seen in ages, and the Pecharunt-themed deck is one of the coolest to play with right now. I'm also betting on Persian (078/064) becoming a sleeper hit among collectors. It's a stunning Gen I artwork card, and we know those tend to appreciate well in the Pokémon TCG market.

Obsidian Flames hasn't received the attention it deserves, especially for a Charizard-centric set. This means the triple-pack blisters are currently a fantastic deal. History tells us that any set with a heavy Charizard focus is worth grabbing before prices skyrocket.

My favorite card in this set, however, is Ninetales (Illustration Rare, 190/197). The artwork is breathtaking—possibly the best Ninetales card ever printed. For collectors, these blisters are worth it for the Charizard alone, but there's much more to Obsidian Flames than just fire-breathing dragons.

I'm a big fan of Shiny Pokémon cards, and Paldean Fates is packed with them. With over 130 Shiny Pokémon to pull, it's one of the most exciting sets to open. However, I believe these blisters are worth picking up now, especially for Shiny Pikachu (131/091). This card is already selling for nearly £50, and demand is likely to increase without a guarantee of another Shiny Pikachu release soon.

Beyond Pikachu, Shiny Gardevoir ex (233/091) is the most visually appealing card in the set and highly playable. If you're into Gen I nostalgia, Charmander (109/091) and Charmeleon (110/091) are essential—they're part of one of the best Charizard decks in Standard currently. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire evolution line becomes pricey in the future.
