Take-Two Reports Strong Sales for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, Confirms GTA 6 Launch Timeline
Grand Theft Auto V has sold 5 million units in the past three months, despite being over a decade old. Launched in September 2013, GTA V remains one of the top-selling video games ever.
Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to gain traction, with 70 million copies sold, including a 3 million increase in the last quarter. The game first hit shelves in October 2018.
GTA Online, the multiplayer component of GTA V, drives much of its enduring success. Take-Two keeps the community engaged with updates like the December 2024 Agents of Sabotage release.
Looking ahead, Take-Two confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI will launch in fall 2025. Additionally, Mafia: The Old Country is slated for summer, with Borderlands 4 expected later in the year.
Fans awaiting Grand Theft Auto VI need not worry about delays. The highly anticipated title remains on track for an autumn release, as noted in Take-Two’s recent financial briefing. Borderlands 4 is also confirmed for this year, though specific launch dates are still pending.
“Rockstar is meticulous in its development approach, which may extend timelines, as seen with past titles like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, despite the confirmed fall launch window.
