Exciting news for fans of the Star Wars universe: Shawn Levy, the acclaimed director behind Deadpool & Wolverine, is reportedly in talks to helm a new Star Wars film, and he's looking to collaborate with none other than Ryan Gosling. According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations are underway to bring Gosling into the fold for this eagerly anticipated project. Levy has been crafting this Star Wars venture since 2022, with script development kicking off last year. He's teaming up once again with Jonathan Tropper, the screenwriter behind This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, both of which Levy directed.

While details about the plot remain tightly under wraps, it's confirmed that this film will not be part of the iconic Skywalker Saga. Instead, it's set to be a standalone story, exploring a new corner of the Star Wars universe. There's no information yet on the character Gosling might portray or the specific era in which the story will unfold.

The involvement of Ryan Gosling has significantly accelerated the project's timeline. Originally, Levy was slated to direct a boy band movie featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. However, if Gosling officially signs on, production on the Star Wars film will take priority, with filming set to commence in the fall.
