Star Wars Celebration Confirms Oscar Isaac Appearance, Sparking Rumors of His Return to the Galaxy Far, Far Away
Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation
The official Star Wars Celebration Instagram account confirmed Oscar Isaac's attendance at the Tokyo event (April 18-20, 2025), igniting speculation about a potential return of Poe Dameron. This follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 appearance, where she announced her involvement in a new Star Wars film.
The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker, leaving Isaac's future in the franchise uncertain. While initially hesitant, expressing a desire to return only for financial reasons ("another house or something"), he later told Variety he was "open to anything."
Isaac's past criticism of Disney, particularly regarding the rejection of a Poe/Finn romance, adds intrigue. John Boyega, who also voiced past frustrations with Disney, has similarly expressed openness to future roles.
This fuels speculation about a reunion of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio – Rey, Finn, and Poe – in the upcoming Rey-centric film. This film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, centers on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already expressed interest in Boyega's return, making Poe's inclusion a logical possibility.
However, definitive answers may remain elusive for some time. Disney's repeated delays of numerous announced Star Wars projects push the earliest potential release date of the Rey film to December 17, 2027. While the film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, is still in development, Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer some clues.
