Spider-Man 2 Hacked on PC Within an Hour of Release

The PC version of *Spider-Man 2* hit the shelves of Steam and the Epic Games Store without any protective measures in place, which made it impossible for hackers to crack the game prior to its release. This was largely due to the absence of pre-order and pre-download options, combined with the hefty 140-gigabyte size of the distribution files.
Despite these precautions, within an hour of its launch, hackers managed to download and crack the game. As anticipated, *Spider-Man 2* lacked sophisticated defense mechanisms, making it vulnerable to such attacks.
Sony took a low-key approach to promoting the game, with the system requirements only being revealed a day before its PC debut. On Steam, *Spider-Man 2* has secured the seventh spot among Sony's major releases, trailing behind heavyweights like *God of War* and *Horizon*, as well as *Days Gone*.
Initial player feedback has been underwhelming, with the game currently holding a 55% positive review rating based on 1,280 reviews at the time of this post. Common complaints include optimization issues, frequent crashes, and various bugs.
In contrast, *Spider-Man Remastered* continues to dominate as the top performer in the series on PC, having once boasted over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether *Spider-Man 2* can come close to matching this record will become clearer over the weekend. However, if current sales trends persist, the game stands a solid chance of achieving respectable numbers.
