GoW Fans Unleash Chaos Over PSN Requirement
Since its recent launch on PC via Steam, God of War Ragnarok has been saddled with a 'mixed' user score rating. A significant number of fans have expressed their frustration by review-bombing the game due to Sony's much-criticized mandate for a PSN account to access the title. Launched just last week, the game is currently hovering at a 6/10 rating on the platform.
Sony's announcement that a PSN account is necessary to enjoy God of War Ragnarok's single-player action-adventure on PC has baffled many fans, fueling the surge of negative reviews.
While the backlash is palpable, some players have reported successfully playing the game without a linked PSN account. One player shared, "I understand the frustration over the PlayStation account requirement. It's frustrating when developers force online features into a single-player game. However, I was able to play without any issues, even without logging in. It's a shame because these reviews might deter others from experiencing an amazing game."
Another player expressed their disappointment, stating, "The PSN account requirement dampens the excitement. I launched the game, logged in, but it got stuck on a black screen. It even recorded that I played for 1 hour and 40 minutes, which is absurd considering I didn't even get to play."
Despite the controversy, positive reviews have also emerged, with players praising their experience with the game and attributing the negative feedback to Sony's decision. "The story is as compelling as expected. The negative reviews are primarily due to the PSN issue. Sony needs to reevaluate this policy. Otherwise, the game is exceptional on PC," one player noted.
Sony encountered a similar predicament with Helldivers 2 earlier this year when it enforced a PSN account requirement for the shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. In response to widespread criticism, Sony reversed its decision and removed the PSN account linking requirement for Helldivers 2.
