"Silksong Fans Hopeful for Nintendo Direct Reveal Next Week"

Author : Layla Apr 18,2025

The excitement surrounding the latest Nintendo Direct was palpable for fans of Tomodachi Life, but for the Hollow Knight: Silksong community, it was another round of disappointment. The absence of a new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel left fans donning their clown makeup once again, a ritual that has become all too familiar.

Fortunately, another showcase is on the horizon. Scheduled for April 2nd, fans are already buzzing with anticipation and, of course, a healthy dose of skepticism.

The Silksong community has been riding a rollercoaster of anticipation and disappointment for some time now. A quick visit to their subreddit or Discord server reveals a world filled with memes and "silkposts" that fantasize, predict, and jest about the elusive game. Last year, consecutive Nintendo Directs sent the community into a frenzy, and earlier this year, a simple photo of chocolate cake sparked a wild goose chase for an ARG that never materialized. It's challenging to discern whether the community's reactions are rooted more in genuine disappointment or in the camaraderie of shared humor.

However, there's a heightened sense of urgency surrounding the upcoming showcase. Hollow Knight's initial release on PC was followed by a surge in popularity upon its launch on the Nintendo Switch, cementing its association with Nintendo's platform. With the next showcase rumored to unveil details about the Nintendo Switch 2, including its hardware and potential launch titles, it seems like the perfect stage for Silksong to make its grand reappearance. While first-party titles are expected to dominate, Silksong fans are clinging to the hope that their beloved game will be ready to shine at such a significant event.

Will the Silksong community face yet another letdown? It's hard to say, but there are some signs that a release date announcement might be on the horizon. A recent Xbox Wire post on indies made a passing reference to Silksong, though it could have been a playful tease. More intriguingly, recent backend changes to the game's Steam listing, including an updated copyright year, have sparked speculation. Yet, the community has been down this road before, with Silksong's listings appearing and disappearing from various console storefronts, leading to countless false alarms.

The only concrete assurance comes from Team Cherry's marketing and publishing chief, Matthew 'Leth' Griffin, who, following the cake incident in January, affirmed that "Yes the game is real, progressing, and will release." Until then, all we can do is wait and dream of a world where Silksong has finally arrived.

So, get your clown makeup ready for next week, folks!
