Team Cherry’s Marketing and Publishing Head, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real and actively being developed. This statement came in response to a fan's plea for any sign that the game is still in the works.

The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to a cake, leading fans to wonder if it hinted at an upcoming announcement or an ARG related to Silksong, possibly even a reveal for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, YouTuber fireb0rn, after reaching out to Griffin, clarified that the cake was simply a harmless change and not connected to any game news. "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie," fireb0rn tweeted.

Despite the cake confusion, Griffin reassured fans by stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This marks the first update from Team Cherry on Silksong's status in over a year and a half.

Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History

Originally announced in February 2019, Silksong was expected to launch in the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expanded scope and their desire to enhance it further. Silksong promises to take players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and feature a new difficulty level called Silk Soul mode. After nearly two years since the delay, this recent update, though brief, breaks the silence.
