World of Warcraft is introducing the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al’ar as rewards for two exclusive promotions in China. These mounts, currently unavailable in other regions, are reimagined versions of the rare raid boss drops, Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al’ar.

After a hiatus of over a year, NetEase and Blizzard reestablished their partnership, allowing games like World of Warcraft, Diablo 4, and Overwatch 2 to return to China. To celebrate, World of Warcraft introduced various festivities, including a Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the new Xiao Liu pet with teleportation capabilities.

Now, WoW China is preparing for another exciting promotion, featuring reimagined versions of some of the game's rarest mounts. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al’ar, recolored and redesigned versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al’ar, will be available in two parallel promotions starting January 15. These fiery avian mounts will be usable in both modern and Classic WoW.

New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts

  • Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
  • Golden Ashes of Al'ar

The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk resembles the Pureblood Fire Hawk, a rare drop from Ragnaros in the Firelands raid of WoW: Cataclysm. A distinctive feature is the xiangyun, or "auspicious clouds," visible in its wings, symbolizing peace, immortality, and good fortune, and deeply rooted in Chinese culture for over 3000 years. The Golden Ashes of Al’ar, a gilded version of the Ashes of Al’ar from Kael’thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade’s The Eye raid, features a sleek black saddle and flavor text echoing Kael’thas’s iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."

The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk will be obtainable through an event called the Treasure Workshop, though specific details are yet to be revealed. The Golden Ashes of Al’ar, on the other hand, can be acquired from Landro’s Loot Box, priced at ¥200 (approximately $27). Each box contains one of eight items, including other prestigious rewards like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger, a rare mount from WoW’s discontinued TCG. Players can also form teams to purchase these boxes, earning additional crates upon reaching certain spending milestones.

While the new Xiao Liu pet has hinted at potential international releases, there is currently no indication that the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk or Golden Ashes of Al’ar will be available outside China. For now, players worldwide can only admire these stunning mounts from a distance.
