Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch
The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step to address the ongoing challenges fans face in acquiring the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, the company acknowledged the difficulties and confirmed that reprints of popular sets are on the way, aiming to meet the high demand and improve product availability.
The launch of the latest set, "Destined Rivals," was marred by shortages, pre-order issues, and the impact of scalpers. This set, along with other recent releases like "Prismatic Evolutions" and the "Blooming Waters" box, have been highly sought after, making them difficult to obtain for many fans.

In their official statement on the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) expressed awareness of the purchasing difficulties fans are facing due to the high demand for certain TCG products. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this," the statement read. They assured fans that reprints would be available at participating retailers soon.
Moreover, TPC announced plans to maximize production for future TCG expansions to ensure better availability at launch. They also committed to ongoing reprints of affected products to maintain stock levels, including at the Pokémon Center.
In response to scalping issues, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed the problem by emphasizing their commitment to a smooth purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They currently use a virtual queue system during high-traffic periods to prioritize fans. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated, expressing gratitude for the community's patience and support as they strive to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans.
With these assurances, fans are hopeful that collecting and playing the Pokémon TCG will become less stressful with the arrival of new sets.
