Overwatch 2 is making a triumphant return to China, offering a wealth of content and rewards for players. Mark your calendars for February 19, when the game relaunches in China, coinciding with the beginning of Season 15. This relaunch will give Chinese players the chance to dive back into Future Earth and catch up on everything they've missed.

The announcement of Overwatch 2's return to China came with a successful technical test from January 8 to 15. During this period, fans got a taste of what's to come, including Overwatch: Classic and the six new heroes introduced since the game's servers closed in China during Season 2.

Following the technical test, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller shared exciting news via Xiaohongshu, also known as RedNote. A multi-week celebration, dubbed the Return to China event, will feature popular in-game events and rewards from the past two years. Chinese players can look forward to earning Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the relaunch, and from Seasons 3 through 9 through in-game events once the game is live again.

Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?

Keller also teased that Season 15 will include skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While details are scarce, it's unclear whether these will be new skins or existing ones, if they'll be exclusive to China, or if they might be part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for Season 15, similar to the Norse mythology-inspired cosmetics in Season 14.

The wait won't be long for global fans, as Season 15 kicks off on February 18, just before the official relaunch in China. With less than a month to go, expect more information about the new season to surface in early February.

In the meantime, players can enjoy the second 6v6 test in Overwatch 2, Min 1, Max 3, from January 21 to February 4, with the classic 2-2-2 team composition available. The Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also on the horizon before Season 15, promising plenty of excitement for fans worldwide. While Chinese players won't participate in these events, they can anticipate their own special celebrations soon.
