Netflix Is Launching Its First MMO Spirit Crossing Later This Year

Netflix is venturing into the world of MMOs with their latest announcement at GDC 2025: Spirit Crossing. Developed by Spry Fox, the team behind cozy hits like Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, this life-sim promises to envelop players in warm pastel visuals, soothing music, and an environment focused on connection rather than competition.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing

In Spirit Crossing, you'll have the freedom to explore a vast world, build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside other players. Activities include gathering resources, riding fluffy creatures, joining dance parties, and simply enjoying the vibes with friends. The game draws visual inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even modern art styles like Corporate Memphis, aiming to create a timeless and inviting atmosphere where players can feel at home for years.

A standout feature is the in-game calendar system, which impacts your progression. For example, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to mature into a harvestable orchard. This slow-paced, long-term design is a hallmark of Spry Fox's approach, previously seen in Cozy Grove.

At the heart of Spirit Crossing is the emphasis on forging meaningful connections, a core aspect of Spry Fox’s design philosophy. Studio co-founder David Edery has expressed his vision for the game to be a place where strangers can become friends.

Netflix has released a trailer for Spirit Crossing that captures its charm and allure. Why not take a moment to watch it?
