First Mortal Kombat 1 T-1000 Gameplay Looks Straight Out of Terminator 2, and There's a Surprise Kameo DLC Character Coming Too
Get ready to experience the chilling power of the T-1000 in Mortal Kombat 1. NetherRealm Studios has unleashed the first gameplay footage of this iconic Terminator 2 villain, and he’s bringing the liquid metal mayhem. His attacks, reminiscent of Baraka and Kabal, showcase his shape-shifting abilities, culminating in a spectacular Fatality that reimagines the thrilling truck chase scene from the original film. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, lends his voice and likeness, adding an authentic layer to this brutal addition to the roster. Witness the T-1000’s devastating power in a showdown against Johnny Cage.
Adding to the excitement, NetherRealm surprised fans with the announcement of Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter. This fan-favorite character from the Mortal Kombat 1 story mode, the resourceful restaurant owner, will be joining the fight. Catch a glimpse of her in action, assisting the T-1000 in the gameplay trailer.
The T-1000 arrives in Mortal Kombat 1 on March 18th for early access (Khaos Reigns owners), followed by general release on March 25th. Madam Bo will be available on March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or a separate purchase.
The T-1000 marks the final DLC character for the Khaos Reigns expansion, following Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation continues regarding future DLC, with Warner Bros. Discovery’s commitment to the Mortal Kombat franchise fueling anticipation. CEO David Zaslav’s statement about doubling down on four key titles, including Mortal Kombat, hints at continued support.
Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat’s creative director, previously stated NetherRealm’s next game was decided three years ago, while promising long-term support for Mortal Kombat 1. While fans eagerly await a potential third Injustice game, Boon has confirmed that the franchise remains a possibility. He cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4 as factors influencing the decision to release another Mortal Kombat title before returning to the Injustice series. Boon explicitly stated that the door is not closed on Injustice.
