"Metaphor: ReFantazio Could Become a Series, Says Game Director"

In a recent interview, Hashino expressed his interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this as a fitting setting for a new Japanese role-playing game, potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series. This project could offer a fresh narrative and gameplay experience for fans of the genre.

Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino clarified that there are currently no concrete plans to turn it into a series. His primary focus is to ensure the successful completion of this project. Initially, Metaphor: ReFantazio was envisioned as the third pillar of Atlus' Japanese role-playing game lineup, alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. Hashino's goal is for it to become a central initiative for the company.

Despite earlier statements indicating no plans for a sequel, the development team is already moving forward with their next project, which is not expected to be Metaphor: ReFantazio 2. However, discussions about an anime adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio are underway. Notably, Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved the highest platform launch success in Atlus' history, with concurrent player counts reaching an impressive 85,961. For comparison, Persona 5 Royal had 35,474 players, and Persona 3 Reload reached 45,002. The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, ensuring wide accessibility for gamers across different platforms.
