Mattel163 Launches 'Beyond Colors' Update for Colorblind Players in Mobile Games
Mattel163 is taking a significant step towards inclusivity with an exciting update designed to enhance the accessibility of popular card games for everyone. They are introducing colorblind-friendly decks for UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile with a new feature called Beyond Colors.
What Is Beyond Colors?
This update is a thoughtful enhancement aimed at the approximately 300 million people worldwide who have color blindness. Traditional card colors have been revamped and are now represented by distinct shapes such as squares and triangles, ensuring that all players can clearly distinguish between different cards.
Activating the Beyond Colors feature in Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile is straightforward. Simply tap your avatar in the game, navigate to your account settings, and enable the Beyond Colors deck under the card theme options.
For Beyond Colors, Mattel163 collaborated with gamers who have color blindness to ensure these new symbols are effective and user-friendly. This initiative is part of Mattel's broader commitment to accessibility, aiming to make 80% of their games colorblind accessible by 2025.
In developing this update, Mattel163 worked alongside experts in color vision deficiency and the global gaming community to create solutions like patterns, tactile clues, and symbols. This approach ensures that color isn't the only way to differentiate cards.
The shapes used in Beyond Colors are consistent across Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile. Once you familiarize yourself with these shapes in one game, you'll be able to use them effortlessly in the others. You can find these games on the Google Play Store: UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile.
