Marvel Snap is back online, but Second Dinner aren\'t happy and is seeking a new publisher

Author : Ethan Mar 27,2025

After a tumultuous few days, Second Dinner's popular card battler, Marvel Snap, is once again accessible in the United States. The game had been temporarily unavailable due to the TikTok ban affecting its publisher, ByteDance. However, it seems that Second Dinner was not informed about the sudden decision to halt service, which included a stark warning message labeling the app as "banned."

As Second Dinner continues to manage the fallout and address player grievances, they have made a significant announcement: they are now actively seeking a new publisher. This move marks a substantial setback for Nuverse, a ByteDance subsidiary, which had been the publisher behind the successful 2022 launch of Marvel Snap, a game that blends iconic Marvel comic heroes with fast-paced card battles.

You may have already read my opinion piece on this matter (and if you haven't, where have you been?), where I highlighted that ByteDance's decision to abruptly remove both TikTok and several of its gaming titles, including Marvel Snap, without prior warning to the developers, was likely to backfire.

Second Dinner's frustration is palpable, as evidenced by the outpouring of player complaints on social media about missed log-in rewards and disrupted event gameplay. Their decision to seek a new publisher underscores the deep-seated anger within the company regarding the recent events.

Finding a new publisher could take months or even years. In the interim, the hope is that there won't be a recurrence of the recent incident.
