Marvel Explores Defenders Reunion Strategies
The anticipation for the next season of *Daredevil* is building, and it seems the creators are already plotting the future, including the possibility of a *Defenders* reunion. In an extensive profile featured in Entertainment Weekly, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, expressed enthusiasm about bringing back the street-level heroes—Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—collectively known as The Defenders.
While no plans are set in stone, Winderbaum shared with EW, "It’s certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox… Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television." He further elaborated, "But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."
We already know that *Daredevil: Born Again* will continue the story that began on Netflix. Netflix previously hosted its own Marvel universe, albeit on a smaller scale, with shows like *Jessica Jones*, *Iron Fist*, and *Luke Cage*. Winderbaum's comments suggest that *Daredevil: Born Again* could serve as a launchpad to bring these characters back into the fold on Disney's terms via Disney Plus. Notably, the new season will feature Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher, marking another successful transition of a Netflix hero to the Disney platform.
For now, fans will need to wait until the premiere of *Daredevil: Born Again* on March 4 to see how the story unfolds and how it might connect to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
