Luigi Games Coming to Nintendo Switch in 2025

If you grew up playing Mario platformers, you know that Luigi, the green-capped brother of the iconic Mario, is gaming's ultimate Player 2. Often living in the shadow of his more famous twin, Luigi has occasionally stepped into the spotlight with his own series, Luigi's Mansion, where he takes on the role of a ghostbuster. As we approach the launch of the Switch 2, we're taking a moment to celebrate Luigi and all the Player 2s out there with a comprehensive list of every Luigi game available on the Nintendo Switch.

There are 17 games on Switch that let you play as Luigi. He’s the main character in only two games (Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Luigi’s Mansion 3) and the co-lead in one (Mario & Luigi: Brothership).

Luigi’s Mansion 3 (2019)

Luigi's first starring role on Switch came with Luigi’s Mansion 3, the third installment in his solo series. In this game, Luigi and his green gooey clone, Gooigi, join forces with Professor E. Gadd to battle ghosts and rescue their friends from King Boo's haunted hotel.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (2024)

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is a remastered version of the 2013 Nintendo 3DS game Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. In this adventure, Luigi explores the haunted mansions of Evershade Valley, capturing ghosts and thwarting King Boo's plans to save his brother.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership (2024)

While not exclusively a Luigi game, Mario & Luigi: Brothership places both brothers on equal footing. This latest entry in the Mario & Luigi series, released after a long hiatus since Paper Jam in 2014, challenges players to navigate puzzles and platforming challenges to restore the kingdom of Concordia.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2017)

Luigi first graced the Switch as a playable character in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. As a middleweight racer, he boasts a well-balanced stat distribution, slightly favoring speed and handling. His iconic appearance in an ad for the original Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 led to the creation of the Luigi Death Stare meme.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (2017)

Luigi teamed up with his Rabbid counterpart in the Nintendo-Ubisoft collaboration, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. This tactical RPG allows players to include both Luigi and Rabbid Luigi, who mimics his human counterpart in appearance and behavior, in their party.

Mario Tennis Aces (2018)

Luigi took to the courts in Mario Tennis Aces as one of the 16 playable launch characters. Known for his balanced, all-around play style in Mario sports games, Luigi's specialty shot, Pipe Cannon, launches him into the air for a powerful spike.

Super Mario Party (2018)

Luigi is one of 20 playable characters in Super Mario Party. A mainstay in the Mario Party series, Luigi has appeared in every installment alongside Mario. This game marked the first Mario Party release on Switch and is Nintendo’s ninth best-selling title on the platform, according to the company.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018)

Luigi is an unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one of 12 characters to appear in all five Smash games. According to LumiRank’s 2025 tier list, which reflects the views of 93 ranked Smash players, Luigi ranks as an A+-tier fighter and the 18th best overall.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (2019)

Luigi is a playable character in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, an expanded version of the Wii U game that includes the New Super Luigi U expansion. In this expansion, Luigi takes the lead with his higher jump and a unique 100-second timer per level.

Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)

In Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi joins Mario, Toad, and Toadette as one of four playable characters. This level-building platformer lets players craft their own Mario levels using assets from various Mario games.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (2021)

In Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, players can choose to play as Luigi, who has a slightly higher jump and less traction than Mario, resulting in a more floaty and slippery gameplay experience.

Mario Golf: Super Rush (2021)

Luigi tees off in Mario Golf: Super Rush alongside Mario and friends. With decent control and excellent speed stats, he's ideal for the new Speed Golf mode. His special shot, Ice Flower Freeze, creates a hazardous area for opponents upon impact.

Mario Party Superstars (2021)

Luigi returns in Mario Party Superstars, the second Mario Party game on Switch. Unlike Super Mario Party, Superstars is a collection of classic minigames, boards, and mechanics from the series' history.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football (2022)

Luigi is one of 16 playable characters in Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, the latest Mario soccer/football game. As a well-balanced footballer, he excels in technique, which affects dribbling, shot curving, and shooting accuracy.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (2022)

Luigi and Rabbid Luigi return in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, the sequel to their tactical RPG adventure. Luigi is classified as a Sneak Attacker, equipped with ranged weapons and lower health.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder (2023)

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the latest 2D Mario platformer, Luigi serves as a playable alternative to Mario, with the only difference being their aesthetic appearance.

Super Mario Party Jamboree (2024)

Luigi is playable in Super Mario Party Jamboree, the largest and arguably best game in the Mario Party series. Additionally, Luigi features in the new Buddy mechanic, potentially turning dice rolls into 10s.
