"Letterlike: New Word Game Combines Balatro and Scrabble!"
Word game enthusiasts have a fresh challenge on their hands with Letterlike, a new roguelike word game that merges the thrill of Balatro with the classic gameplay of Scrabble. Combining vocabulary skills with roguelike randomness, this game offers a unique twist that's truly innovative.
How to Play Letterlike
Letterlike is a roguelike game, meaning each playthrough presents a new set of letters and challenges, all generated procedurally. This leads to a vast array of possibilities and endless opportunities for victory.
In every game, you begin with a selection of letters. Your mission? Craft meaningful words, score points, and progress through levels, each consisting of three rounds. To advance, you must accumulate sufficient points by forming high-scoring words, akin to Scrabble. You're granted five attempts (or lives) per round, so strategic play is crucial.
If you find yourself stuck with unhelpful letters, don't despair. You can discard them, but remember, discards are limited, so choose wisely. Additionally, the rearrange mode allows you to drag, drop, shuffle, and manipulate letters to form the words you need.
In the final round of each level, a special ability activates, rendering certain letters worthless and scoring zero points. This adds an extra layer of strategy to your gameplay.
Points and rewards earned can be spent on items that enhance your runs. Some buffs are automatically applied, while others unlock at specific levels. Collecting gems also enables you to acquire powerful upgrades, easing your path in future runs.
Will You Give It a Try?
Letterlike is designed to be simple, minimalist, and enjoyable. It features the ability to replay specific runs with friends using shared seeds, so if you encounter a particularly challenging letter combination, you can share it and let your friends tackle it too!
The game is ad-free and available with a one-time purchase, and it can be played offline. Curious? You can test it out with a free demo version. If you're intrigued, head over to the Google Play Store and give the Letterlike demo a try.
