Responding to significant player feedback, Riot Games is reinstating Hextech Chests in League of Legends. A developer update, released February 27, 2025, and accompanied by a YouTube video, outlines several changes addressing player concerns.

Riot acknowledged previous updates fell short of player expectations, stating a commitment to addressing these issues. The return of Hextech Chests is a key component of this shift. Riot admitted they underestimated the importance of these chests to players' sense of reward within the game.

Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to ten chests and keys per act: eight from the free pass and two via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Skin Delayed, Further Adjustments Based on Feedback

The upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, along with the entire Exalted skin line, has been delayed. Riot aims to refine the skin to better meet player expectations. This delay also affects the planned release schedule, meaning fewer Exalted skins will launch this year than initially anticipated.

Further responding to community feedback, one non-Prestige skin will be replaced with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about Mythic Essence availability in the paid pass and the number of champions per seasonal theme.

To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.

Clash, previously scheduled for less frequent events, will return to a monthly schedule, with an ARURF event in March and a regular SR Clash in April.

Riot emphasized their ongoing commitment to iterative improvement, stating that addressing player feedback is a continuous process. They view these changes as a significant step and will continue monitoring player response and making adjustments accordingly.
