Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower than Global Version

Author : Owen Apr 23,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with different pricing strategies for Japan and the rest of the world. This new gaming console will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusive to Japan, and a Multi-Language System, available globally. In Japan, the Japanese-language version will be priced at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System version will be priced at $449.99 worldwide, resulting in a significant price difference of over $100. This discrepancy is largely due to the weakened yen, which impacts the cost for tourists purchasing in Japan.

Residents of Japan have the option to purchase the Multi-Language System version as well. However, the Japanese-language system is exclusively available in Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japanese region. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For gamers interested in using the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese, Nintendo recommends purchasing the Multi-Language System version. More details about this version will be unveiled on April 4.
