Hyper Light Breaker: Mastering the Hoverboard
Quick Links
Navigating the vast and expansive Synthwave world of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be a challenge, but fear not – the game equips you with a Hoverboard right from the start. This handy device not only serves as your sprint mechanic but also significantly boosts your movement speed, allowing you to traverse large distances with ease while your Energy depletes slowly. This guide will walk you through the ins and outs of using your Hoverboard and highlight its versatile features that go beyond mere transportation.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
To harness the speed of the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker, all you need to do is hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard, as long as you keep the Dodge button pressed.
Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick in any direction, you'll lean the board and gradually turn. The turning radius depends on your speed – it's more challenging to maneuver at top speed, but easier when you're moving slower.
To dismount, simply release the Dodge input. If your Energy runs out while you're riding, the Hoverboard will automatically disappear.
Keep an eye on your Energy level, which is displayed next to your Breaker's companion. If it's running low, take a moment to hop off and let it recharge, preventing an untimely dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While you can't perform tricks or attack while on the Hoverboard, Hyper Light Breaker enhances its utility with several key features. One standout is its ability to float on water, allowing you to cross rivers and inlets without detours. Remember, you must be on the Hoverboard before entering the water; it won't summon if you're already submerged. No matter your entry speed or height, the Hoverboard will swiftly return to the surface, keeping you gliding smoothly.
Another useful feature is the ability to duck down by holding the Jump input while riding. This doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it helps you time jumps more precisely, enabling you to cover greater distances and navigate tricky gaps effectively.
