"Guide: Defeating and Capturing Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds"
Facing off against the formidable Quematrice in *Monster Hunter Wilds* can be daunting, especially with its fiery breath and meat-stealing tendencies. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with detailed insights into its weaknesses, strategic approaches, attacks to steer clear of, and methods to not just defeat but also capture this beast.
How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds
The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like monster reminiscent of the Cockatrice, fortunately breathes fire rather than turning adventurers to stone. As a mid-sized monster, it's susceptible to most weapons, though its area attacks may encourage you to opt for ranged weapons if you're less confident in close combat.
Key weaknesses include water, with no known resistances, though it's immune to Sonic Bombs. When it comes to its attacks, be wary of its tail strikes and sweeps, particularly the tail slam, a powerful move where it lifts its tail high before crashing it down. Sidestepping or blocking can save you from this heavy hit. However, the real threat comes from its fire-based attacks, which can ignite you and the ground, causing continuous damage. These fire attacks include a frontal flame blast after rearing its head and roaring, a sweeping fire attack after a similar pose that affects a wide area around it, and a charging attack where it runs towards you, turning at the last second to launch fire. If you're fighting at range, start moving backwards as soon as you see these moves to avoid damage.
How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing the Quematrice requires the right tools: a Shock Trap and a Pitfall Trap, along with at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is technically sufficient, having a backup is advisable in case the monster escapes or another creature triggers it prematurely.
Once the Quematrice is sufficiently weakened and begins to limp, or you notice the skull icon appearing and disappearing on the mini-map, it's time to set your trap. Ideally, wait until the monster moves to a new area after limping away, as this simplifies the process. Place your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and then throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your capture.
