Following March's Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and April's Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 throws us back to a classic era. The story unfolds after 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, shortly after Peter Parker's return from Battleworld and his initial struggles with the alien symbiote. He'll need every bit of his newfound power to save the city when Godzilla arrives.
Joe Kelly, recently announced as the writer for the upcoming relaunch of The Amazing Spider-Man, pens this explosive encounter. Nick Bradshaw (known for Wolverine and the X-Men) provides the art, with cover art contributions from Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.
"The moment I heard about a '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped across the table to claim it," Kelly shared with IGN. "This book is a chance to go wild with two iconic characters, capturing the chaotic energy of my Spider-Man collecting days. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity and vibe, while giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his totally-normal-black-suit!) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter delivered with an earth-shattering roar!"
This isn't the first time Western superheroes have clashed with Godzilla. DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel in the works) featured the MonsterVerse versions. However, Marvel's series focuses on Toho's classic Godzilla.
This announcement follows the reveal of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology benefiting wildfire relief.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 stomps onto the scene April 30, 2025. For more on upcoming comics, check out Marvel's and DC's 2025 plans.
