Gears of War: E-Day Co-Developer People Can Fly Signs New Project With Sony, Codenamed Project Delta
People Can Fly, the acclaimed developer behind Bulletstorm and a co-developer of the much-anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, has entered into an exciting new partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment. The agreement focuses on the development of a new game, currently codenamed Project Delta, which will be crafted as a work-for-hire project. While specifics about Project Delta remain under wraps, the collaboration marks a significant step for the studio.
The studio is bustling with activity, juggling multiple projects simultaneously. Among them are Project Gemini, developed in partnership with Square Enix, and Project Echo, which they are creating with Krafton. Additionally, People Can Fly is working on Project Red, another venture possibly linked with Sony, and Project Bison, a VR project they recently announced would be their last foray into virtual reality.
Despite these ongoing endeavors, People Can Fly faced some challenges last year. In December, they suspended work on Project Victoria and scaled down efforts on Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, the studio had to cancel Project Dagger, which was set to be an action-adventure game in collaboration with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly remains robust, with a total of eight projects currently in development. This includes the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition. While a release date for Gears of War: E-Day has yet to be announced, Project Gemini, in collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for release in 2026.
For fans and followers of People Can Fly, the future looks bright with a diverse portfolio of games in the pipeline, showcasing the studio's commitment to delivering innovative and engaging gaming experiences.
