Final Fantasy 14 Updates Chaotic Raid Rewards
In response to player feedback, Final Fantasy 14 has announced significant changes to the reward structure of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid in Patch 7.16, set to launch on January 21. This update will introduce an exchange system for Clouddark Demimateria, allowing players to trade Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2. This new feature responds directly to the community's desire for more flexibility in acquiring high-demand items like the A Half Times Two hairstyle and the Dais of Darkness mount, which require 49 and 75 Clouddark Demimateria 2, respectively.
The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, which debuted on December 24 following Patch 7.15, challenges up to 24 players against the iconic final boss from A Realm Reborn's World of Darkness, integrating mechanics from the Shadowbringers' Eden raid series. Successful raiders are awarded Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2, with additional Demimateria 2 rewards for first-time clears.
Square Enix has confirmed that the exchange rate for Clouddark Demimateria 1 to 2 will be implemented in Patch 7.16, although specifics remain undisclosed. This change aims to facilitate easier access to sought-after items, which can also be traded on the market board, potentially affecting their market value post-launch. The company has emphasized that these adjustments were made in response to player feedback, hinting at the possibility of further modifications in future updates.
Patch 7.16 marks the first content update of 2025 for Final Fantasy 14, featuring the conclusion of the Dawntrail Role Quest series. However, major job balance updates are not expected until Patch 7.2. As Final Fantasy 14 plans to introduce more raid content throughout 2025, the impact of player feedback on these developments will be closely watched.
