Fable's First Pre-Alpha Gameplay Revealed
In a surprising turn of events, early gameplay footage of the highly anticipated next installment of the Fable series was unveiled during the Official Xbox Podcast. The video provided fans with a tantalizing glimpse into the game's world, showcasing a variety of locations, the combat system, different types of enemies, and even a snippet of a cutscene. Notably, the iconic chicken kick, a beloved feature from previous games, also made a delightful appearance.
Prior to this reveal, the head of Xbox Game Studios had announced a delay for Fable, pushing its release from 2025 to 2026. The reason given was the need for additional polish and refinement, a common requirement in game development to ensure a high-quality final product.
The reboot of this iconic series was first announced on July 23, 2020, sparking excitement among fans. However, in the three years following the announcement, very little information was shared about the game's progress. It became evident that Fable was still in the early stages of development, which raised concerns among the community.
The main developer, Playground Games, sought assistance from Eidos Montreal, indicating the complexity and scale of the project. The absence of polished gameplay footage for an extended period further highlighted the significant challenges the development team was facing. Despite these hurdles, the recent reveal of gameplay footage has reignited hope and anticipation for what the next Fable game will bring to the table.
