Digimon Alysion: Story Mode in TCG Pocket Rival
Digimon fans, get ready for an exciting new addition to the franchise! At DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled their latest project, Digimon Alysion, a new mobile trading card game (TCG) that's currently in development. This free-to-play digital TCG follows the footsteps of successful mobile games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, aiming to bring the Digimon TCG experience to a broader audience through mobile platforms.
Digimon Alysion allows players to collect cards featuring various Digimon and franchise characters, construct their decks, and engage in battles with other players. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, offering players an immersive narrative experience alongside the traditional and competitive gameplay elements. A newly released trailer showcased gameplay snippets and introduced an all-female cast expected to feature prominently in the story mode. Characters such as Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon called Gemmon, were introduced. While no specific release date has been announced, a closed beta test is on the horizon, with more details to follow.
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 provided more insights into Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara shared details about the game's history, main characters, and the unique abilities of some of the Digimon included. The game features three starter Digimon from the original Digimon Adventure series: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, confirmed to be the initial partners players can choose from. Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which had 330 Digimon. The new trailer highlighted Digimon such as Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the beloved Agumon.
Hara also elaborated on the game's storyline and introduced the protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for the organization ADAMAS, tasked with uncovering threats to both humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, accompanied by her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their journey. The narrative revolves around time manipulation, with the protagonists being thrown back and forth through different eras.
The event also featured announcements such as the Digimon Anime's 25th Anniversary promotional video, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and the upcoming anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these exciting developments, the Digimon franchise continues to expand and innovate, promising more thrilling experiences for fans in the coming year.
